Community Service Project
For my community service project I worked with my Girls Build LA team in 8th grade to inspire more young girls to become interested in science, technology, engineering, math, chemistry, and biology. We gave girls the chance to develop an interest in STEM by hosting events around our community with various hands-on experiments and activities. We hosted 16 events throughout our community between December and May. We decided to solve this issue because only 24% of women have a career in STEM and most are Caucasian women. Women in STEM also get paid less than their male co-workers. We do not want men to have more value than women or visa versa, we are simply reaching for equality between the genders.
